How to check the error
of the formula?
Tool - Error Checking
This will open a dialog box with options –
Update formulaTo include the remaining cells.
Edit FormulaThis allows changing the formula from the formula bar.
Ignore ErrorIf you want to change the color or want to enable/disable the error checking then click on the Options button on the left bottom of the box.
What is Track Changes?
This will show the editing made by the other user or after applying the Track Change.
-Tools - Track Changes - Highlight Change.
Click on the Check box to activate the Track Changes.
What is Goal Seek?
This option is used to estimate the value to the round figure. This option is applied on the cell containing the formula.
-Tools - Goal Seek, this will open a dialog box with following options.
-Set Cell – type the name of the cell containing the formula.
-To Value – type the desired value.
-By Changing Cell – type the name of the cell which you want to be changed.
What is Scenario?
This is very useful option of the MS Excel. This option is used to create the report like budget, inventory etc.
To create scenario reports –
-Select the cell containing the items.
-Tools - Scenario, a scenario manager dialog box will appear. Click on add button to add new scenario. Fill the scenario (field0 name. Fill the records in the text boxes.
-Click on Add Button. After adding the records. Click on the OK button.
-Click on Summary button.
-Click on scenario summery option.
A summery report will be created.
Example – If you want to create the comparison report of some food item.
-Then type the Items in the column A2:A6 .

-Select the items. Select scenario option from the tools.
-Click on add button, type the name of the scenario(field) 2007 and click on Ok.
Enter the rates of the items of year 2007.
Sugar - 20
Rice - 15
Milk - 18

After adding the entries then click on the Add button.
Type the name of the second scenario(field) 2008.
Sugar - 22
Rice - 20
Milk - 24
Oil  - 50
Butter – 130
After adding the entries then click on the Add button.
Type the name of the third scenario(field) 2009.
Sugar - 38
Rice - 25
Milk - 30
Oil  - 60
Butter – 160
Now click on Ok button.
Click on Summery option.
Click on scenario summery option.
A summery report will be create as -

What is formula Auditing?
It shows the relationship between the cells and the formula. There are the two types of the Formula Auditing. Trace Precedents and Trace Dependent.
Trace Precedents
It works with the formula cells it shows that which values are related with formula.
Click on the cell containing the formula.
-Tools - Formula Auditing - Trace Precedence. (This will draw the arrow over the cells which are related with this formula.)
Trace Dependent
It works with the cell which contains the normal value.
-Click on the cell.
-Tools - Formula Auditing - Trace Dependent.
(It draws arrow to the formula cell.)
Erase all arrow option.
If you want to delete the arrows goto Tools menu and click on Formula Auditing select


How to Create a new Series?
-Tools - Options , the option dialog box will appear
-Select the Custom list tab
-Click on the New List Tab
-Type the list of the entries eg. Colors name – red, blue, yellow, pink, black, green, purple, violet.
-Click on the Add button.
The series is created.
